Paramount+ published its trailer announcement on September 10, linking directly to this video. The announcement also set out the four batches that make up the Book 1 release.
The story begins with a difficult discovery: Pavi, an Earthbender, is the next Avatar after Korra. Her world has suffered a catastrophic upheaval, and the Avatar's return draws fear and pursuit. Reuniting with Nisha adds another question to her journey: what explains their shared origins?
That combination of family mystery and a dangerous public identity is the premise behind the preview. Pavi and Nisha must face threats from humans and spirits while the Seven Havens, the remaining centers of civilization, are in danger.

The earlier teaser accompanied the premiere-date reveal at the Avatar Studios panel on July 23. Paramount+'s San Diego Comic-Con recap identifies the panel and links to the official video.
This is a separate promotional release from the September trailer. It belongs to the show's first round of Comic-Con promotion, so any language introducing an upcoming October premiere reflects when it was published. The premiere has since taken place.

Are these official trailers?
Yes. Paramount's September announcement links to the full trailer, and its Comic-Con recap links to the teaser. The two YouTube links on this page follow those official source links.
Does the trailer explain what happened to Korra?
The promotional premise establishes that Pavi follows Korra and that the world fears the Avatar. That premise does not settle Korra's responsibility for the catastrophe or her exact fate. Read the Korra guide for the distinction between established background and unresolved questions.
